Bread Pudding is an easy dessert that can be evolved with basic ingredients. It can be made with leftover bread. Any variation of bread can be used that can go well with cinnamon and custard sauce. Bread Pudding dessert has many demographic variations. The recipe mentioned here is an egg-less version. The amalgamation of evaporated milk, cinnamon and vanilla is simply divine. This dessert can also be prepared with whole milk instead of evaporated milk with a bit of adjustments in the quantity of custard powder used.

Ingredients:
- 4 slices white bread OR whole wheat bread
- 1.5 cup + 1/8 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 tbsp custard powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- few raisins soaked in water for an hour
- some chopped almonds
Method:
- Arrange all the ingredients. Cut the bread slices into cubes and arrange in a baking dish.
- Mix custard powder with 1/8 cup of evaporated milk till dissolved.
- Heat the remaining evaporated milk on low flame. Add the sugar and bring milk to a near boil.
- Add the custard powder. Stir continuously on low flame till spoon is coated.
- Add the butter and cinnamon powder and stir till butter melts.
- Switch off flame and let it cool slightly.
- Now add the the vanilla essence to this custard sauce and mix.
- Pour the custard sauce over the bread slices and keep aside for 5 minutes so that the bread soaks the custard sauce.
- After 5 minutes you can pour some more custard sauce.
- Sprinkle raisins and chopped almonds.
- Bake in oven for 30 minutes till the top is slightly brown and crisp.
- Enjoy hot or cold.
Tips:
- You may omit custard powder.
- Regular whole milk can also used instead of evaporated milk. In that case use 1 tablespoon of custard powder for the custard sauce.
