Rose milk is a common flavourful summer drink. In order to beat the heat, children very happily slurp up this drink without any fuss. This drink is very easy to prepare and is effective in keeping the heat at bay. Rose milk drink revives memories of yesteryears when my mother would prepare bottles of  rose syrup. Then every evening, much to our delight, we would impatiently wait for a glass of chilled rose milk. Nowadays various brands of rose syrup are easily available. To further hike the grandeur of this drink, Tukmaria seeds also known as Sabja seeds or Tulsi seeds,  as well as chopped nuts can be added. Tukmaria seeds are one of the best body coolants, known to reduce body heat. 

Ingredients:

  • 1.5  cup of boiled and chilled  milk flavoured with cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons homemade or  store-bought rose syrup(adjust to taste)
  • 2 teaspoon Sabja /Tukmaria seeds (basil seeds)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped almonds and pistachios
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar if needed 


Method:

  1. In a bowl soak Tukmaria/Sabja seeds for 20-30 minutes

  2. Then strain the Tukmaria/Sabja seeds and keep aside
  3. Mix milk, water and sugar(if using). Strain the milk.  
  4. Mix rose syrup in this milk.
  5. Stir the milk nicely and pour into two glasses.
  6. Top each glass with Tukmaria/Sabja seeds and nuts.
