Fruit Custard with Dates & Nuts Recipe| How to make Fruit Custard |Easy Fruit Custard recipe

Desserts are a pinnacle for any social gathering whether a big crowd or a few old-time friends. Everyone wants to have quick, yet impressive solutions for their meals and desserts due to jampacked routines.  In the category of desserts, Fruit Custard is an all-time favorite for its five-star rating as a quick and easy dessert. It is a very versatile  dessert that can be customized according to tastes, seasons and cultures. Fruit Custard is basically a creamy sauce into which pieces of seasonal fruits are incorporated. Fruit Custard can be made vegan by using almond milk. If you run out of custard powder , you can use cornflour and vanilla essence. Fruit Custard is quick and foolproof dessert that people of all age groups are bound to enjoy.
A conscious effort has been made to some extent, to prepare this Fruit Custard according to Ayurveda food combinations.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk +1/4 cup milk for dissolving custard powder
  • 2 tbsp custard powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 apple (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup black grapes
  • 4-5 chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tbsp each of raisins, chopped almonds and pistachios
  • 1-2 tbsp of tutti frutti (optional)
  • A few strands of saffron

    Method:

      1. Organise the ingredients.
      2. In ¼ cup milk dissolve 2 tbsp custard powder.


      3. Add sugar to 2 cups milk and bring to near-boil. Reduce flame.


      4. Slowly add the milk- custard powder slurry to the milk. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
      5. Custard milk will start to thicken slightly. 
      6. Add saffron and stir. Turn off the flame.

      7. Add the raisins.
      8. Keep aside to cool.


      9. Chill in the refrigerator.
      10. In the mean while peel, core and chop the apple.


      11. Once the custard has chilled, add the grapes, dates, almonds, pistachios, apple, pomegranate seeds and tutti frutti.







      12. Mix well.
      13. Chill and garnish with some more nuts.
      14. Enjoy the chilled custard dessert with your family and friends.



      Recipe Notes:

      1. If custard is too thick, warm up some milk and add 1 tablespoon at a time, whisking continuously until it comes to desired consistency.
      2. If you like really thick custard, chill the custard and the fruit and mix the fruit into the custard just before serving.
